As in previous editions, this report provides a comparison of the performance metrics in 2023 of the 25 largest insurance groups operating in Latin America, as well as an overview of their performance over the past decade (2013-2023). The analysis focuses on how performance has evolved over time in relation to insurance operations and the contribution to industry concentration levels of these market players. It also includes an analysis of the geographic dispersion of the operations of the 10 largest insurance groups operating in Latin America.

The report updates the ranking of the main insurance groups operating in Latin America by premium volume. As in previous versions, from a methodological point of view, the report presents a dynamic comparison of the performance metrics of the main insurance groups during the 2012-2022 period, together with a more conjunctural perspective based on the activity registered during the last year. The analysis focuses on the behavior of the main players in the insurance market and their contribution to the industry’s concentration levels. In addition, the report includes an analysis of the geographic dispersion of the operations of the ten largest insurers in the region.

This report ranks the main groups operating in the Latin American region according to the premium volume obtained in their insurance activity. It analyzes the evolution in the performance of the insurance operations of these groups, as well as their contribution to the levels of concentration in the market. In this version of the report, the perspective of analysis is broadened by studying the geographical and regional dispersion of premiums and growth for the top ten insurance groups in the ranking, broken down by branch or sector segment. Finally, as in previous years, the report offers a dynamic comparison of performance metrics of the main insurance groups over the last decade and their outlook with respect to the activity recorded during the last year.

This report ranks and classifies the main insurance groups operating in Latin America according to the volume of their total premiums, as well as for the Life and Non-Life segments. In addition, the document presents the performance of the region’s insurance market from two different perspectives: a year-on-year view (2019-2020), as well as a ten-year view (2010-2020), from which a dynamic analysis with medium-term changes is obtained. Finally, the final section of the report studies the evolution of the concentration of the insurance industry in the region and how this varies according to the branch analyzed over the last decade.

Additionally, as in previous issues, the report includes an analysis of the concentration of the Latin American insurance industry.

This new edition of the Ranking of the largest insurance groups in Latin America in 2017 maintains the analysis criteria using premium volume from previous versions, providing a dynamic view of the behavior of market players, both from a growth perspective as well as concentration. In order to distinguish longer-term trends from current trends, the study shows the dynamic observed over a ten year period (2007-2017), and the specific dynamic of the last year (2016-2017). The results are presented in three categories: total, Non-Life and Life.
