After a three-year gap due to the pandemic, DIA Amsterdam was back on, and MAPFRE’s innovation team (Miguel Ángel Rodríguez, Global Head of Innovation, Juan Cumbrado, Innovation Manager for Spain and Carlos Cendra, Head of Scouting at corporate level) was there to make the most of it, with a jam-packed agenda full of industry insights and latest developments to enhance digital strategies and accelerate innovation.

At the event, attended by 1,300+ attendees, from 50+ countries around the world, MAPFRE’s global head of innovation, Miguel Ángel Rodríguez, alongside Shift Technology’s co-founder and CSO, Eric Sibony, gave a presentation about end-to-end claims automation to an enthusiastic crowd on the Show & Tell main stage.

AMSTERDAM

Rodríguez and Sibony explained the collaboration undertaken by MAPFRE and Shift, where claims can be handled end-to-end (settlement included) in a single interaction in less than 2.5 minutes, focusing on the key learnings discovered during the process, such as picking the right use case, how to succeed at conversational design and the importance of not underestimating integration issues.

Roundtable session about insurtech situation in Europe

MAPFRE also used the event to launch a new industry report, ‘The state of European Insurtech 2022’, researched, developed, and written with innovation partners from Dealroom, Mundi Ventures, and NN, to a private gathering of industry leaders.

The report, available here, was widely covered and is now being analyzed by insurance, insurtechs and VC investors worldwide. It takes the pulse of insurtech, identifies insurtech challengers and enablers, looks at the shift to prevention across the sector and the top insurtech trends affecting the industry, including climate risk and net-zero, cyber and crypto, and the silver economy.

With this participation in a benchmark event in Europe such as DIA new connections have been made with both inspiring insurtechs and incumbents keen to partner with MAPFRE.

Fortunately, the sun also shone throughout the two days and the historic venue that played host to the event facilitated many networking opportunities, where new relationships were formed and old friendships renewed.
