Fundación MAPFRE se vuelca en Colombia para dotar de material sanitario al principal hospital de la costa pacífica

Four hundred health professionals and administrative staff at the San Andrés ESE Hospital in Tumaco have received a donation of 100,000 pieces of equipment that will protect them against COVID-19.

The equipment includes: 3,000 N95 masks; 12,500 conventional masks; 4,800 disposable gowns; 10,000 head covers, shoe covers and gloves; 3,000 liters of antiseptic alcohol, antibacterial gel and liquid soap; and respirators, goggles, gloves and rubber boots.

As part of this donation to Colombia, the company has collaborated with the Consejería Presidencial para la Juventud – Colombia Joven, an organization that has coordinated the distribution of the equipment to the San Andrés ESE Hospital in Tumaco, and which has been channeled via the “Ayudar nos hace bien” (Helping Does Us Good) campaign led by Colombia’s first lady, Maria Juliana Ruiz Sandoval.

The San Andrés ESE Hospital in Tumaco normally treats patients from ten municipalities on the Pacific Coast of Narino and is estimated to benefit around half a million inhabitants of this region of the country. It has 297 health professionals and 107 administrative and support staff who, thanks to this donation, will be safer when carrying out their work.
Fundación MAPFRE has led more than 15 projects in the past year, with more than 100,000 people benefiting. Since the start of the pandemic, it has focused its efforts on supporting and protecting groups that are particularly vulnerable, those who are at most risk in society and those fighting coronavirus on the front line.
